Christmas Celebrations at St. Benedict

The MEALenium Project had two Christmas get-togethers this year with St. Benedict, one for the study hall kids and another for the feeding center children. Basti Belmonte and Alexa Kahn organized all the parties and the donations for the Christmas presents for all the kids and the parent volunteers. 2 for 1 Promise for Payatas

As part of our Nature Guard “2 for 1 promise”, we provided families in Payatas a free bottle of Nature Guard anti-mosquito spray for every 2 bottles sold. For our first batch of recipients, we organized a seminar about mosquito-borne diseases prevention. We invited a key note speaker, Dr. Lots Doligon of Makati Medical Hospital. July 2016 Update

We are happy to report that as of July 2016, 15 out of the 28 kids in the feeding program are now of normal weight. That’s 53% of the children in the program out of malnutrition.  We are working on getting 2 more kids to complete 30 kids this month. With 5 more months remaining this year, we hope to reach 80% out of malnutrition by December.

Last May 28, we had our first session for basketball and table tennis training. We enlisted kids ages 9-15 from St. Benedict, Payatas who were interested to learn these sports. Since it’s Easter break, we were able to take some time to play with the kids at the feeding center this week. The kids enjoyed playing with the home-made clay we brought. It was nice to see them unleash their creativity and simply enjoy!
